An introduction to Trauma Informed Awareness within church

As part of our ongoing safeguarding training, Exeter Network Church warmly invites you to the following event: An introduction to a Trauma informed awareness within church with guest speaker, Caroline Hodgson.

About Caroline

Caroline is a qualified trauma informed practitioner. Having trained with Trauma Informed Schools UK, she now assists with their courses, providing training for schools and communities to implement a trauma informed practice. Caroline is also a registered counsellor with BACP,  gaining many years experience of work with young people who have learning disabilities and complex needs and who require additional communication skills to support  their 'voice' being heard. And what is more, she is a committed Christian, a wife, a mum and a granny!

About The Event

Caroline Hodgson will give an introduction about being 'trauma informed' and how an awareness of this in our church context is so important. Specifically, she will help explore the following questions:

  • What is a Trauma Informed approach and what is some of the research and evidence that underpins it?

  • How do we as church/community begin to develop an effective 'Trauma informed' practice, and how could this add value?

  • How do we create safety for others and ourselves when using a Trauma Informed Approach?

  • What might any next steps look like ?
